I just read my 2010 yearly recap and so sad but true, I had tears in my eyes. 2010 was a great year. WOW. I was soooooo happy.
So. Well. 2011 wasn't quite the heavenly year I was hoping it would be. But I'm still here. Even if there's now A LOT more of me in body, more than a few disasters in my mind(recall), and A LOT less gumption/ excitement/ hippyhoppyhappiness left in my soul at year end than I'd wish. Despite the roller coaster ride that was 2011 - it's (hopefully) true: What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. (That's just the inner Crossfitter talking ;-) Best of all I've learnt some very important lessons. Scrap that. Most importantly I learnt the same lesson - TWICE! (Namely, f.t.l.o.G check that people you agree to work for actually aspire to be successful in business. If not runnnnnnnnnnnnn far far FAR away and NEVER look back!)
Brilliantly the Christmas break has been a godsend for my irascible, about-to-quit-on-the-spot, shamefully self-wallowing, pitiful soul and I'm missioning up for a great, Great, GREAT 2012.
In the hope that I must have done something good in the past 365 days, my best Thinking Cap went on. Here's what I came up with. Actually, I
Here are m'eleven best bits of 2011 ;-)
In 11th place: Discretionary Transatlantic Flight Upgrade - wooooohooooo AMAZE. Taking my love of flying to an ever higher cloud nine swoonworthy level.
In 10th place: My TV debut!! Recap: Moi. On TV!!!!!! Haha - still cringing.
In 9th place: Running 10km 9 days consecutively in 'Februlous' - culminating in two very sore knees and the very nearly overslept but fundiddliumptious 10km LOVErun. Lucinda (LoveBug below), I bow down to your Februlous Running AWESOMENESS!
In 8th place: Discovering The Shine Project - Ashley Mieux is SUCH an inspiration and the only reason I'm vaguely calm when I think about the EPIC goal I've committed to in 2012. That and I'm following AJ's footsteps next year as much as possible ;-)
In 7th place: My Sparkly Fivefinger Babies. I heartsie these to infinity and beyond.
In 6th place: Completing 60km in 13 hours (coming in just *ahem* a little behind la foxy Hannah). I can still feel the pain of walking up a mountain on impacted tractor tracks. P.A.I.N.F.U.L.
In 5th place: Austin, TX: a) Segwaying!!!!!! b) Going back THREE TIMES to check the WORLD's MOST AMAZING SALAD was really THAT good - T'was c) Lots and lots and LOTS of Cocktails d) Living it up at the Hilton - My first proper grown-up holiday. Maria - let's do a 2013 Austin reunion Fest ;-)) M'kay
In 4th place: Being selected as a 2012 Olympic Torchbearer - Can you freakin' believe it?!?!?!?!?!
In 3rd place: Surviving the Texan 100+ degree 100 day Crossfit Heatwave Initiation. Bonus: Learning what a MANCRUSH can do for my workout MOTIVATION (even if my ability to count reps is annihilated at the sight of a six pack. It's a price I'm prepared to pay! ;-)))
In 2nd place: My wish for the year coming true - Baby SUPERchick is very nearly ready to hatch. Woo. Hoo. SUPERmummy Lou.
My Tippy Toppy Favourite moment of 2011: Being reunited with my Long Lost Spiritual Family:
BEST. EVER. MOMENT. OF. 2011. No contest.
Can't imagine my life soundtrack now without Zac Brown Band, Jason Aldean, Jake Owen, The Band Perry and a miriad of new L.O.V.E.S. Now if only I could persuade the Country Music Festival to permanently relocate to Austin, TX - Hello Nirvana!
2011 cathartic reflection done. Next up - the Best Task of 2011: Dream up the biggest, boldest, most brilliant 2012 and Pursue. It. Relentlessly.
Stay tuned xx
p.s. Currently watching 'I Love You, Man' as I write this and it's proving to be better than expected. Things are looking up.
